Course description

Do you have a young person aged 15 or over, with special learning needs or learning difficulties? This unique program is designed to give the support and skills needed to gain employment or progress onto further study. It also offers students the opportunity to meet and interact with new people, build confidence, and further their language and communication skills. This course is offered on a full-time basis to give students the best opportunity to gain skills for employment, or further education.

This course is a dual qualification, you will also need to apply for 22567VIC Certificate I in Transition Education

Term 1: FT - 4 days per week | Monday - Thursday | 9.00am to 3.00 pm
Term 2 & 3: FT - 5 days per week | Monday - Friday | 9.00am to 3.00 pm
Includes Work Experience on Wednesdays and Vocational Activities on Fridays
Term 4: FT - 4 days per week | Monday to Thursday | 9.00 to 3.00 pm
Includes work experience on Wednesdays. (Work experience may be five days per week for the last two weeks of term 4)

  • To be eligible to apply for this course you will need to have:
    • a diagnosed learning disability and/or
    • have received special education assistance, or have had a modified program at school
  • A literacy and numeracy assessment is not required for this course
  • Evidence of learning disability, or modified school program must be presented prior to enrolment
  • Applicants must be a minimum of 15 years of age at the time of course commencement, have special learning needs, have potential and motivation for employment and also have family support for participation in the course and workforce entry
  • Any student under the age of 17 must provide a Transition from School form prior to undertaking the course
  • You must reside in Victoria to access Victorian Government Subsidised Fees and any incentive such as Job Trainer. Full fees apply to all non-Victorian residents.

Each student must complete a pre-training review as part of their application. The outcome of your pre-training review assists our teachers and trainers to better understand your capabilities prior to training and enables you to be matched to the right program. Your literacy and numeracy skills will be evaluated and you may be required to undertake a separate assessment. Click here for more information.

Practice tests

In order to prepare for your LLN, you may wish to attempt some practise tests in which you will find similar questions (with solutions too). These practice tests are not VSL approved but may be similar in question type and level of difficulty to what may be asked in the VSL approved LLN. Click here for practice tests. Please note, the VSL approved LLN cannot be resat within 3 months of undertaking it.

Selection mode

  • Interview: Applicants and their parents (if under 18) are interviewed to ensure content and expectations of the course are understood. The applicant’s suitability for study is also discussed.
  • Applicants who can demonstrate motivation to work, the ability to relate to others and who are sufficiently mature to cope with work will be given preference.
