Course description

Develop the digital confidence and technology skills needed for study, work and everyday life. This introductory Digital Skills Skill Set is ideal for adults who want to improve their ability to use computers, access information online and engage confidently in digital environments.  

Through practical, hands-on learning, you will develop skills in using digital devices, common software applications, internet research and online communication.  

Delivered on campus over five weeks, with classes two days per week, the course provides a supportive and accessible pathway for learners rebuilding their confidence with technology.  

This is not a full qualification. Successful students will receive a Statement of Attainment for two units. 

Whether you are preparing for further study, employment or greater independence in everyday tasks, this skill set will help you build the digital capability needed to participate more confidently in today's connected world.

Class times are indicative and may change before the course starts. Students may need to complete some self-paced learning and assessments outside class, varying by course and skill level, or may be required to attend classes both on campus and online.

Entrance requirements

    • These skill sets are designed for learners aged 17 years and over who want to improve their literacy, numeracy and/or digital skills before undertaking further study, training or employment.
    • Applicants may participate in a brief discussion and complete four short foundation skills questions to help identify the most suitable skill set and any support required for successful participation.
    • A previous LLN Robot Short Course assessment may also be used to identify foundation skill strengths and support needs. 

    Recommended entry level:

    • Literacy: ACSF Level 2 (approximately Year 9 English)
    • Numeracy: ACSF Level 2 (approximately Year 9 Mathematics)
    • Digital Skills: Basic digital skills (Level 1), including: 
      • Turning a computer on and off
      • Logging in with a username and password
      • Conducting basic internet searches
      • Using common software such as Word and Excel
      • Saving files and creating folders
      • Using email features such as Reply and Reply All

Pre-training review

Each student must complete a pre-training review as part of their application. The outcome of your pre-training review assists our teachers and trainers to better understand your capabilities prior to training and enables you to be matched to the right program. Please note that the listed electives are delivered by The Gordon but you may not need to complete all of these units to successfully complete this qualification. If you have previously completed any of the units of competency relevant to this course, you may be eligible for Credit Transfer (CT).
