Aged Care and Disability

Individual support now has two streams, ageing and disability.

Courses are run face-to-face in Werribee and Geelong or can be undertaken in the workplace as a trainee, so you can earn while you learn.
You can choose to add on an additional skillset as the completion of your program. Having both qualifications can significantly improve your job prospects and educational pathways.

There are many ways to support clients, from working in residential facilities to working with people in their homes. Job flexibility and rewarding experiences make individual Support an excellent career choice.

A career in individual support can offer you the following:

  • A rewarding and fulfilling career
  • Excellent prospects for your future career
  • Job variety — no two days are ever the same
  • The satisfaction that you're making a difference
  • Meeting new people, making new friendships

Student and teacher stories

“I graduated as an Individual support worker from The Gordon. Teachers here are knowledgeable and have created an environment where everyone is supported and welcomed irrespective of your background, which was very important for me personally being an international student.

I have successfully landed a job as a PCA at MACS (Multicultural Aged Care Facility), which is a highly respected aged care facility in the Geelong region.

I would definitely recommend The Gordon as the learning environment is conducive to developing the skills required for the profession, you’re encouraged to be your best, they were friendly, helpful and approachable and the teaching system was flexible and well- organised.”
