Student and teacher stories

Image of Kirsty Watkins, Laboratory Technology student

“After many years working in hospitality and retail banking, I decided to re-evaluate my career options.  I decided a six-month taster would be a good way to expand my experience and chose the Certificate III in Laboratory Skills at The Gordon. This decision changed my life.

I found the subjects and new skills fascinating.  I found the staff to be knowledgeable and helpful.  I loved the engagement of mind and hand and the thought of really contributing to society.  My six-month taster became a committed study toward diploma qualifications and a new career.

After graduation I worked in a medical microbiology laboratory, and now work at The Gordon ensuring the practical experiments I conducted as a student, are now teaching the next round of aspiring scientific personnel.”
