Course description
This popular course is designed to build your confidence, strengthen your foundational skills, and support you to take the next step toward further study, training, or employment—particularly in areas such as community services or trades.
Whether you're returning to study after a break or didn’t have the opportunity to complete school, this course provides a supportive and flexible learning environment tailored to adult learners.
Through hands-on, supportive learning, you’ll develop practical skills in reading, writing, communication, numeracy, and digital literacy. You’ll also build teamwork, problem-solving, and project planning skills that are essential for success in further training and the workplace.
A key part of the course includes researching further education and career pathways, helping you explore future study options and plan your next steps after completing the program.
Our experienced VET educators use real-world, learner-centred activities to make learning relevant, practical, and engaging.
This course is specifically designed as a pathway into Certificate III level studies or employment, providing a strong foundation of skills to support further learning within vocational education and training or entry into the workforce.

Class times are indicative and may change before the course starts. Students may need to complete some self-paced learning and assessments outside class, varying by course and skill level, or may be required to attend classes both on campus and online.

Entrance requirements
- Applicants must be 17 years and over at the time of course commencement.
- Applicants are expected to have literacy and numeracy skills at Year 11 or Year 12 or Australian Core Skills Framework Level 3.
- Applicants will be invited to attend a Setting You Up for Success student discussion with teachers from the program area if their LLN results indicate two or more areas with scores below the required ACSF Level, if they have disclosed a disability during the application process, or both.

Pre-training review
Each student must complete a pre-training review as part of their application. The outcome of your pre-training review assists our teachers and trainers to better understand your capabilities prior to training and enables you to be matched to the right program. Please note that the listed electives are delivered by The Gordon but you may not need to complete all of these units to successfully complete this qualification. If you have previously completed any of the units of competency relevant to this course, you may be eligible for Credit Transfer (CT).
