October is National Safe Work Month, and this year’s theme is Safe Work is for Life.
Whether you're studying in a workshop, lab, kitchen, classroom or on placement, safety is an important part of learning and working. Safe habits don't just help prevent injuries today, they help protect your health and wellbeing for the future.
There are plenty of ways to take part, including:
- Safety Pledge Walls at all campuses.
- Safety in a Snapshot: share a photo or video showing safety in action for your chance to win (entries close 18 September)
- Safe Work Month kick off at Geelong City Campus, including a free bbq, CPR and defibrillator demonstrations, giveaways and more
- Safe Work Month wrap up at East Geelong Campus, including a free bbq, supplier stalls, giveaways and more
- Ride2TAFE (Ride2Work) day
- Caught in the Act... of working safely
Why does safety matter?
Every year, thousands of Australians experience serious workplace injuries that can affect their health, study, work and future. Many incidents are preventable through safe work practices, speaking up about risks and looking out for one another.
