A world of opportunity at Open Day

Open Day 2022_barberingThe doors swung open at our recent Open Day event to welcome a stream of curious career seekers looking to gain some insight into what the future may hold for them.

Hundreds of attendees were greeted by a host of teachers and students eager to share what it is like to work across a large variety of industries, including high growth sectors such as health and science, construction trades and information technology.

Service-based industries showcased included business, cookery, tourism and hospitality, along with automotive, engineering, community services and early childcare and education.

Interactive displays featured our many creative program areas with sugar demonstrations from our patisserie team, free haircuts from our talented barber and emerging technologies showing innovative STEM programs led by our Geelong Tech School.

There was so much to see and do and leading the hype and excitement of Open Day was our regional WorldSkills events hosted by floristry, hospitality and our culinary areas. Students competing impressed judges and wowed onlookers with their skills.

Jana Perera, Executive Director of Commercial Business at The Gordon said, “The commitment from our trainers to enable these competitions to take place for our students highlights the excellence in skills training and delivery and provides our students the opportunity to succeed in their careers.”
