Course description

This course is the perfect pathway if you’re looking to pursue a career in modern science. You will build on the skills and knowledge gained from completing the MSL40122 Certificate IV Laboratory Techniques, and focus on analytical chemistry, quality and data processing.  

This hands-on course develops your skills to work in laboratories across various fields. You will learn to analyse, apply and perform a range of processes and procedures, including aseptic techniques, biological procedures, analytical chemistry and procedures, histological tests and procedures, microbiological tests and molecular biology tests and procedures.

Academic:

Successful completion of Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques.

English:

IELTS Academic overall score of 6.0 with no band below 5.5 (or equivalent) – Equivalents can be found on our English language equivalency page.

*Applicants from specified countries may be exempt from English Language Requirements for admissions purposes. Such students will still need to provide evidence of meeting minimum English requirements for visa purposes. Check the list of exempt countries for more information.

Age/other requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or over at the time of course commencement.
  • Applicants applying on a basis of entry other than successful completion of Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques from The Gordon may be required to complete one or more prerequisite units which will incur extra unit tuition fee. Further information is provided at the time of enrolment.

Please note that the listed electives are delivered by The Gordon but you may not need to complete all of these units to successfully complete this qualification. If you have previously completed any of the units of competency relevant to this course, you may be eligible for Credit Transfer (CT).   • Observations and practical demonstrations

  • Product (reports, projects, role plays etc)
