A virtual honour for Gordon graduates
The Gordon’s virtual graduation ceremony has recognised the achievements of more than 2,800 students from across the Greater Geelong and Wyndham campuses.
Students completing a Certificate I to IV, diploma or advanced diploma across the centres of Health and Community Services, Science and Technology, Design and Construction, and Culinary, Education and Teaching, were recognised in the online celebration.
The Gordon’s CEO, Joe Ormeno, stated, “While we hoped our students would return to campus full-time in 2021, we continued to pivot in a rapidly changing environment, allowing our students to maintain momentum and complete their training and education.”
Mr Ormeno also stated that the increased number of students qualifying in their field is testament to the perseverance of both teachers and students at the Institute, and their desire to excel amidst many challenges.
Leanne Chirgwin, who completed a Certificate III in Horticulture, addressed her fellow graduates at the ceremony, “Like any change in life, learning new skills brings with it challenges, but let’s not forget the opportunities it provides. The friends met at The Gordon are made for life, the industry based professionals we have been exposed to inspire us, and our teachers enabled us to believe that we too will be a success.”
