Two Gordon students have been recognised among Victoria's top emerging trades and vocational talent, earning finalist status in the 2026 Apprentice Training Awards.
Nic Leissner studying Engineering and Maddison Amy studying Landscaping, both at The Gordon, have been named finalists in the prestigious awards, which celebrate excellence in apprenticeships and traineeships across Victoria.
Presented by GAN Australia and the Apprenticeship Employment Network (AEN), the annual awards recognise apprentices and trainees who demonstrate outstanding skill, commitment and achievement in their training and workplaces.
Their selection as finalists highlights not only their hard work and dedication, but also the strong partnerships between students, employers and educators that help create successful apprenticeship and traineeship pathways.
The Gordon is proud to support the awards and is also sponsoring the People's Choice Trainee of the Year Award, reinforcing its commitment to developing skilled, job-ready graduates and supporting industries across the region and beyond.
The Gordon’s Director Education Excellence - Industry, Trades and Environment Industry, Andy Bugeja, said:
Congratulations to both Nic and Maddison on this well-deserved recognition. Being named a finalist is a significant achievement and reflects the dedication, professionalism and commitment they bring to their studies and workplaces.
The winners will be announced at the 2026 Apprentice Training Awards on Friday 13 November, where apprentices, trainees, employers and training providers from across the state will come together to celebrate excellence in vocational education and training.
In addition to being named a finalist, our student, Nic Leissner, is also in the running for the People's Choice Apprentice of the Year Award, which is decided through public voting.
Staff, students, alumni, industry partners and community members are encouraged to get behind Nic and cast their vote.
The Gordon congratulates both student finalists and wishes them every success at the awards.
