The Gordon’s Executive Director - Growth and Student Experience, Peter McKinnon said: “Info Nights are a great way to spark your next education adventure; to welcome new students to our campuses and check out our facilities, to ask our team questions and to get the answers they need”.

Coming along to an Info Night empowers people to step inside our classrooms and learning environments, to meet the teachers and explore spaces not typically open to the public.

Info Nights provide a mid-week experience where you gain valuable insights from presentations and demonstrations to help you discover course areas that suit you.

Current student, Julie Hope, a former Teacher and Public Relations Executive attended The Gordon’s Info Night’s in January this year, hoping to be inspired.

"I registered for the Floristry Information Session and was so impressed with what I experienced, I enrolled for the course that night and started studying a few weeks later!" Julie said.

“Attending the Info Nights was eye-opening. As a Geelong-person, I thought I knew about The Gordon, but I now have an even deeper understanding of the important role The Gordon has played in Geelong‘s history, the current educational opportunities and the wonderful opportunity to change my course in life.

I felt immediately welcomed, was impressed by the facilities and the knowledge and passion from the teachers leading my course area. I’d encourage anyone contemplating additional learning to attend Info Nights!

Julie said she knew she had arrived in the right place when the Floristry Teacher at Info Nights stated ‘in floristry you get to create beautiful things!’

Julie went on to say: “One year after a cancer diagnosis and a year of treatment, this is exactly what I was looking for, and The Gordon has helped me to ‘bloom’ and given me more hope for my future,” Julie said.

Award-winning floristry student Kay Fox agrees. Not sure where her path was leading, she also attended an Info Night at the Geelong City campus.

“The Info Night encouraged me to take the next step, to put myself first and draw on a passion I didn’t know was within me, Kay said.

At this year’s Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show, Kay took out Bronze in the Intermediate Student Competition – a huge achievement given the calibre of competition and the fact she’s only commenced studying floristry this year.

“Don’t underestimate how much TAFE can change your life!”

The Gordon offers a range of accreditations, including Certificates I – IV, diplomas and advanced diplomas across a broad array of industries, in addition to apprenticeships, traineeships and VCE.

Courses range from short courses designed to upskill to multi-year courses, some with pathways to university.

Study times at The Gordon are shorter and combined with hands-on learning, you will have the skills, experience and qualifications to be job-ready and start your career sooner.

You can also choose to train in growth areas eligible for Free TAFE, such as health and science, construction trades and information and technology.
